Ireland’s oldest film festival and Cork’s flagship annual cultural event, the Cork Film Festival illuminates and delights the rebel city each November. In 2016 the festival celebrates its 61st edition, taking place 11-20 November.
The Festival is the true home of film in Cork; dedicated to showcasing a richly diverse programme of the very best Irish, independent, and international cinema.
The Festival operates out of The Everyman, the Triskel Christchurch, and the Gate Cinema. In 2016 there will be over 200 films screened – including more than 70 features, 52 documentaries and over 100 shorts, from 55 countries. Competition includes awards for features, shorts and documentaries, with prizes totalling €7,500. For over 80% of the film presented, the Festival is the only chance to see them on the big screen, in Cork.
